The Alegria Approach

One of the central questions in this work is not only how much psilocybin is given, but when and in what state the person receives it.
A deep psychedelic experience can open important doors, but if the system is not ready, too much intensity too early can easily become overwhelming rather than helpful. What is needed is not force, but the right pace.
This is why we work with a gradual intake approach. Rather than starting with one full dose, the experience unfolds in carefully calibrated stages. This gives the body and nervous system time to adjust, settle, and open progressively.
At the same time, psilocybin creates a natural tolerance response. This is where experience and careful guidance become essential. The art lies in sensing how much is needed, when more is helpful, and how to work with this changing sensitivity throughout the journey.
In our experience, the deeper potential for insight, release, and transformation often lies in the deeper doses. But depth should not be reached through force. It should be reached in a way that feels supported and measured, allowing the experience to fully unfold.
At the heart of this work is not only the experience itself, but what becomes possible around it.
Real change begins with awareness. The ability to see our patterns clearly, to notice where they come from, and to gently interrupt what has been running unconsciously for years. This can be supported through reflective practices, journaling, or exploring the deeper roots of our conditioning.
The preparation phase already opens this process. The right impulse, at the right time, can begin to shift something before the journey even starts. After the experience, the brain enters a more open and adaptable state — what we call neuroplasticity. In this window, old patterns can loosen, and new ways of thinking, feeling, and relating can begin to take shape.
But neuroplasticity itself is neutral. It does not determine direction. What matters is how this openness is met, and what is reinforced in the days and weeks that follow.
The integration process focuses on using this window intentionally, supporting the formation of new patterns that can stabilize and carry forward into everyday life.
Through years of work and hundreds of sessions, one thing becomes clear: the body holds what the mind cannot resolve on its own. We often try to understand ourselves through thinking, but many of our patterns are not rooted in the mind alone.
They live in the body, in the nervous system, in sensations that have never been fully felt or processed. Unresolved experiences can remain stored as tension, contraction, or disconnection, not just psychologically, but physically. Somatic work allows access to these deeper layers. It creates the conditions for what is held beneath the surface to gently come into awareness, supporting a process that goes beyond insight.
During the retreat, there is space to explore this mind–body connection in ways that may gently stretch your comfort zone, while also reconnecting you with a sense of play and curiosity that often gets lost over time. We also work with the body directly, through elements such as massage, gentle touch, and guided movement.
All of it happens at your own pace, with a strong emphasis on safety, consent, and attunement, never forced. In this way, the experience is not only understood on a mental level, but truly felt and embodied, allowing it to reach the places where real change becomes possible. There are many elements that shape a psychedelic experience: dosage, preparation, integration, and guidance. All of this is informed by science and careful practice. And yet, when the focus remains only on these aspects, something essential can be missed.
Across cultures and throughout time, it has been understood that the context in which these experiences take place matters just as much as the substance itself. This is what we refer to as ceremony.
It shows in the intention behind the setting, the care with which the space is prepared, and the way we enter the experience. These factors shape how deeply a person can open and what can unfold.
At the intersection of science and the more subtle dimensions of the experience lies music. It is not an addition, but an active part of the journey. Live music supports the process in real time, offering guidance, emotional release, and grounding when needed.
Rather than following a fixed structure, the sound adapts to what is happening in the room, meeting each person where they are. Many participants describe the music as a powerful support during the experience, and something that later helps them reconnect with what they felt and discovered.
